A dark ribbon of water winds between snowy banks, leading the eye past winter trees towards a small glow of amber light. Cool blue-grey reflections and a soft, smoky sky give this original watercolour a quiet dusk atmosphere, while the last warmth along the far bank makes the snow seem to shine.

I love the contrast between the still, deep water and the delicate marks of the trees and grasses. It is a small landscape with plenty of space to pause and look.
